EAR TO EYE — TERMS OF USE & NOTICES
Terms of Use & Notices
Last updated July 24, 2026
These terms govern your use of Ear to Eye ("the app"), published by Aether Tools ("we", "us"). By downloading or using the app you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
What this app is. An assistive reading aid that turns nearby speech into text and presents it one word — or one short phrase — at a time at a fixed point on screen, with a running transcript for re-reading.
Not a medical device. Ear to Eye does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent aphasia, auditory processing disorder, hearing loss, or any other condition, and it is not a substitute for professional speech, language, or hearing care. Consistent with the whole Aether Tools family, nothing in the app flashes or strobes.
Accuracy is not guaranteed
Captions are produced by automated speech recognition and will contain errors, especially with fast speech, overlapping speakers, accents, background noise, or distance from the microphone. Do not rely on Ear to Eye where a mistake would be costly or unsafe — it is not a certified, legal, or medical transcript, and it is not a substitute for a human interpreter or CART provider where one is warranted.
Recording others, and your responsibility
Ear to Eye captions whatever speech is within range of the microphone, which can include people other than you. You are responsible for using it lawfully and considerately: obtain consent where it is required or expected, and comply with the recording, wiretap, and privacy laws that apply where you are. We provide a tool; how you use it around other people is your responsibility.
Speech recognition is provided by Apple
The app converts speech to text using Apple's Speech framework, a service of the operating system. That processing may occur on Apple's servers and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not control its accuracy, availability, or language coverage. See our privacy policy for detail.
License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, in accordance with Apple's Standard End User License Agreement, which applies to this app except where these terms add to it.
Disclaimer of warranties
The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Aether Tools will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the app — including any consequence of a missed, delayed, or incorrectly transcribed word. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
Changes
We may update the app and these terms. Material changes will be reflected by the date at the top of this page; continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
