Privacy Policy

Parallax is built by Aether Tools. It is designed to work without an account and without sending your data anywhere. This policy explains what that means in practice.

Information we collect

We do not collect personal information. Parallax has no account system, no login, and no server that receives your usage in the background. The app runs on your device and keeps its records there.

Device permissions Parallax uses

• Camera — to capture the sky. Frames are processed on your device.
• Location — your position is one of the two inputs the triangulation geometry needs. It is used to compute bearings and, when you choose to submit a capture, to fix a real position.
• Motion & compass — the magnetometer and inclinometer provide the calibrated bearing and elevation recorded with each capture.
• Photos — only if you save a capture to your photo library, which you initiate.

Each permission is requested only when the feature that needs it is used, and you can change your mind at any time in the iOS Settings app.

What is stored on your device

Your calibration state and your log of captures and clean candidates — including their time, bearing, elevation, and location — are stored locally on your device. This log is not uploaded.

Triangulation submissions

A capture stays on your device unless you explicitly submit it to be triangulated against another observer's view of the same object. When and only when you do, the measurement data associated with that capture — and any image you choose to include — is shared to make the match possible. You decide this on a per-capture basis; nothing is submitted automatically.

Analytics and tracking

None. Parallax contains no third-party analytics SDKs, no advertising identifiers, and no cross-app tracking. We do not build a profile of you.

Third parties

We do not sell or share your personal information, because we do not collect it. App distribution and any purchases are handled by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy.

Children

Parallax is not directed to children under 13, and we knowingly collect no data from anyone.

Your controls

You can delete individual captures or clear your log from within the app. Deleting the app removes all of its on-device data. Camera, location, and motion access can be revoked at any time in iOS Settings.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
