Privacy Policy

Noösphere (listed on the App Store as Noosphere UAP) is built by Aether Tools. It works without an account and without a server. This policy describes what the app keeps on your device and the two optional sensors it can use.

Information we collect

None. Noösphere has no account system, no login, no telemetry, and no backend. We never receive your sessions, marks, location, or sensor readings.

What stays on your device

The app stores, on the device only: your session log (phase timings, beacon minutes, notes), your marks (time, compass bearing, elevation, and whatever you add — count, colour, motion, duration, what it wasn't), your station designation, an optional callsign, and your settings. This is kept in Apple's on-device SwiftData store inside the app's sandbox. It is included in your own iCloud or iTunes device backup under Apple's terms if you have backups enabled; it is never sent to us.

Location

Location is optional and off until you grant it. When enabled, the app takes one coarse fix and uses it on the phone to compute dusk, full dark, and the Moon's position and phase. That arithmetic runs entirely on-device; no coordinates are transmitted anywhere. If you prefer, you can type a position instead of granting location at all.

A position is stored on a log entry only if "Attach position to log" is turned on. With it off, no coordinates are written to any record.

Motion

During the Beacon and Watch phases the app reads the phone's motion and heading sensors to draw the compass sightline and to stamp a mark with the bearing and elevation you were aiming at. An optional magnetometer readout shows the local field in microtesla. It measures the phone's surroundings and the phone's own magnets, is labelled as such, and is not a detector of anything. Motion data never leaves the device.

Noösphere does not use the camera, microphone, contacts, HealthKit, or advertising identifiers.

Analytics and tracking

None. The app contains no third-party analytics SDKs, no advertising identifiers, no crash reporters, and no cross-app tracking.

Third parties

App distribution is handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. There are no other third parties. We do not sell or share personal information, because we do not collect it.

Sharing

Nothing is shared unless you share it. If you export a field report, the app hands the file to the iOS share sheet and you choose where it goes. What is in that report is up to you; position is included only if you attached it.

Children

Noösphere is a general-audience wellness and entertainment instrument. It is not directed to children, and we knowingly collect no data from anyone.

Your controls

Swipe to delete any session or mark. Deleting the app removes everything. Location and motion access can be revoked at any time in iOS Settings. There is no account to close and no server copy to request.

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
